A win is a win is a win.
Bingham travelled to Amber Valley hoping to gain in confidence after 2 successive defeats and a 3rd game where we were unable to break our duck.
Several changes as always seems to be case and a fairly physical and direct side, particularly in the backs. Lineouts and scrums functioned well but not to the extent where it put Bingham in good attacking positions as keeping the ball alive seemed the downfall. Early pressure came from Amber Valley with Full back & Flyhalf playing good kicking game and a couple of forward drives were repelled. Tom John playing his 1st game this season at scrum half was playing well and Tom Spibey on the wing had some excellent runs but as previous week, we lacked the cutting edge and are sure it will happen soon. A penalty miss from Dan Bartram didn’t brighten the afternoon and only after a Tom Spibey run did we put any real pressure on the Amber Valley Line. A missed clearance was collected by the forwards and a charge down the 5m channel led to a try for Chris Bell 0 -5.
Half time came and went and Bingham just could not turn the screw. Although secure in the scrum & line, this was not even helped in the scrums as these went to uncontested as the Amber Valley prop left the field. A spate of poor tackling by all allowed Amber Valley to press home and score but missed conversion and a missed penalty both kickable gave a let off for Bingham. Only in the last 10 mins did Bingham exert any pressure and a penalty in the dying minutes was slotted by Glen Sutton to give us a much needed win. With key players hopefully becoming available, we now look to practice and gain confidence before our next league fixture in a couple of weeks.

Friendly this Saturday – Home to Derby Medics. 2:30pm ko, meet 1:00pm
No idea of the level of Derby Medics as they only play friendlies but all the more reason to come down to support Bingham.
Although we are not scoring much, the flip side is we are not conceding too many which gives us the encouragement we are not far away from turning things around.
