A game of 2 halves as the wind dominated @ Ashfield RFC and Bingham picking up a number of injuries. Playing with the gale, Bingham forced an immediate penalty, Will Packer kicked 0 - 3

Chris Pearman was the 1st to leave the field after an early collision with James Seagrave replacing.

Ashfield worked hard keeping the ball close to the forwards and using a hard running centre were rewarded with a try in the corner after a number of phases 5 - 3

The Bingham line out and scrum working well but as they attacked the final pass or control into contact was lacking. Harry Bowles broke down the middle being put into space but support was not there quick enough and the chance went.

Bingham had to wait until the 20th minute to get the scoreboard moving again. Jack Barnard picking up at No8 driving close to the line, quick recycled ball allowed Will Packer to switch play and Harry Bowles exploited the gap. Conversion added by Will Packer 5-10

Confidence growing and the backs throw wide passes notwithstanding the wind and Pete Coppack makes the initial break feeding to Adam Deal with Jack Barnard in support. A try coming but Ashfield penalised. Will Packer adds 3 and keeps the pressure on.

An Ashfield counter from a large clearance from Bingham unfortunately, led to a clash of heads between James Seagrave & Nathan Hartland and both off with cuts. James later getting 5 stitches.

Bingham pressure forces another penalty 5 - 16

Keeping the ball in the Ashfield 22 and contesting the line out forced a fumble, Oscar Ciaurro sniping around the front of the line out collected the ball and went over in the corner. Will Packer added the conversion ala Dan Carter.

Half time comes 5 - 23

Hard work in the 2nd half playing into the wind but maintaining possession and spending time in the Ashfield 22. From turnover ball, a scrum won 10m out and the ball fed to Harry Bowles picking his way through to the line to be stripped of the ball just as going over.

Dave Fairchild & Pete Corah on in the forwards as Bingham restrict Ashfield opportunities. Turnover ball on halfway gives Jack Barnard the opportunity to break and using Adam Deal as a decoy allows Jack to run in. Anthony Thomas takes over the kicking as Will Packer taken off as picked up several heavy tackles and pushed just wide into the wind. 5 - 28

Bingham keep a good defensive line until the last 5 mins and allow Ashfield 2 late tries; the last one after forcing Ashfield back 15m from their own line out but just failing to keep a line.

final score 19 - 28 - comfortable winners in difficult conditions and disappointed with the final 5 mins after putting up a sound 2nd half defensive performance.
