A great performance but just losing out in a closely fought final

With 4 key players injured and unable to even make the bench, a testament to the spirit building at the club & the strength in depth we are developing as we fight back and almost pull it off losing by just 1 score.

A slightly nervy opening with Ollerton dominating 1st 10 mins but the Bingham defence holding firm despite suffering an early blow as Pete Mount limps off and the scrum comes under a great amount of pressure. Nathan Hartland on.

After soaking up the early pressure a few good moves in the backs with James Seagrave coming into the line and putting Adam Deal into space who made good ground but suffered a match-ending knee injury. (Adam has subsequently confirmed possible ligament/cartilage damage but has to go back on Tuesday to be re-assessed). Alex Richards on.

Anthony Thomas almost latched onto an interception which would have seen him clean through but from a resultant turnover created by Harry Bowles, Anthony slotted a penalty to give Bingham the lead 0 - 3

Ollerton come back strongly forcing scrum 5m out but tenacious tackling from Anthony Thomas at the base of the scrum forced loose ball and our own scrum. A huge drive from Ollerton but Jonathan Thomas able to get the ball to Tom Packer who clears long.

Further Ollerton pressure told as they eventually get the extra man and score wide 5 - 3 and get a quick penalty 8 - 3

The backs work there way into the Ollerton 22 but after conceding possession, a crucial missed tackle allows Ollerton to break from their own half and extend the lead to 15 - 3

Bingham work there way back into the game forcing Ollerton to concede penalties and Anthony Thomas adds 2 kicks reducing the
deficit 15 - 9.

Sean Richardson off replaced by Dave Fairchild to get treatment on a shoulder injury

Just on half time a penalty conceded allowed Ollerton to score 18 - 9 - HT

George Ward on for Chris Garrod and Pete Mount & Sean Richardson back on. Good start forcing a penalty on the 10m but pushed just wide.

Pressure maintained keeping Ollerton in own half and rewarding with another Anthony Thomas penalty 18 - 12

Bingham line out working as well as it has all season with Jack Barnard and Richard Walters performing heroics with Jonathan Thomas stealing any loose balls.

A few changes as Richard Walters replaced by Nathan Hartland who then suffered an almost immediate injury needing Harry Bowles to move into the pack & George Stewart into the centre.

Ollerton makes a break through the middle and get the ball wide to score 23 - 12. Bingham immediately fight back, win a line out in the Ollerton 22, recycle the ball and from a couple of wrap rounds, Bingham gets the ball wide to Alex Richards to score. Anthony just wide 23 - 17

A killer blow as Bingham fail to manage the restart and Ollerton pounced to score in the corner 28 - 17

With 5 mins left Bingham again come back and, after a couple of quick penalties, Jonathan Thomas gets under the posts and with the conversion, a 4 point game 28 - 24

Bingham get possession from the restart and a couple of drives just lost possession and allowed Ollerton to clear and the final whistle came 28 - 24

Excellent performances all round - Disappointed but not downhearted after a great performance against the odds and great spirit with all players carrying Adam off the pitch to get some team photos before the presentations.

A good end to a rebuilding season which has seen us recruit several players all now gaining valuable experience on a regular basis and 3 lads returning to the game. Will Packer stepping up to coaching and developing fun sessions has built the spirit and we now look forward to hopefully more new faces and look to hopefully getting out a 2nd team once again.

Looking forward now to an end of season social game with touring side Bramley Phoenix next Saturday, Kick off 2 pm
