Bingham get 3rd win on the bounce as they gain a bonus point win away at Moderns

Moderns (10) 24
Bingham (17) 36
Tries: Dylan Roberts x2, Ben Sansom, Lee Fretwell, Oli Dodge x2 Cons: Tom Packer x3

Several noticeable absences this week but buoyed with the return of Richard Walters, Jack Barnard, Tom Packer, Chris Pearman & Jonathan Barrett making his 1st start after returning to the club and making several sub appearances.

The opening score was created and scored by Ben Sansom, this after Bingham had soaked up initial pressure & then worked upfield, won a lineout and retained possession. Ben Sansom switched play quickly to attack down the right and create an overlap but then cut in to make it himself.

Harry Lister imposed himself with some telling breaks but with support not quick enough, Moderns steal the ball, gain a 5m scrum, go wide and score in the corner.

With scores level Bingham force Moderns into their 22 but a break and good interplay with some quick backs, Moderns take the lead 10 – 5.

Chris Pearman made several tackles on the wing to stop Moderns attacks as both sides looked to play open rugby. Chris takes one bang too many though and is replaced by Ryan Green

A quick penalty from Tom Packer, a chip over and Dylan Roberts wins the race to the line, 10 – 10.

Bingham regains the lead as Richard Walters makes a clean break and offloads to Dylan Roberts in support. Converted by Tom Packer

With Half time looming, a tremendous 5mins saw Bingham retain possession, work upfield only to see Jonathan Thomas held up just short and half time comes.

Bingham starts the 2nd half impressively pinning Moderns in their half but let them off as a couple of kicks to the corner go dead. Pressure though is maintained and, after several phases, lee Fretwell peels away from a maul and raced clear down the blindside. Tom Packer adds the conversion.

Another Richard Walters break provides the opportunity for several phases of play before getting to the backs and, despite a loose pass, Oli Dodge is able to show his soccer skills to dribble over the line and touch down. 10 -29

The 2nd half then saw a string of high tackles and other penalties. Sean Richardson comes onto hook and shows everyone how to tackle low making a string of tackles.

Superb anticipation and an interception by Ryan Green on our own 22 and he outruns all bar the last covering tackle and brought down 5m short but had the wherewithal to remain composed to offload to Oli Dodge who had maintained support. Tom packer again converts 10 – 36

A poor final 10 mins as Dylan Roberts gets a team yellow for 1 too many high tackles and Moderns get a late converted try and add further pressure after running back clearance kicks. Bingham steal the ball from a 5m lineout on the last play, but a penalty for offside as the clearing kick hits a Bingham player and kicked out and Moderns force over with the last play 24 – 36.

Although 6 tries, far from perfect but with 3 consecutive wins, looking to continually improve and an excellent win on the road against a dangerous young side. A good crowd in the bar afterwards and lads out on a social in Bingham in the evening
