Bingham needed to ensure victory in this return game to maintain our push in the Pennant. A 7 – 5 victory early season at Amber Valley and neither game last season produced high scoring affairs so a close encounter was on the cards.

A great start with Bingham backs running each opportunity and allowed Glenn Sutton on a rare start this season due to his RAF commitments to score withing 5 minutes. Close to the touchline, Tom Packer slotted the conversion. Within a further 10 minutes, a quickly taken penalty allowed Andy Birznieks to round his opposite centre and go over. Converted again by Tom and a great start. Amber Valley kept the ball close to the pack with only an occasional back move down the middle using their big inside centre but well marshaled by Chris Garrod. A more even end to the half with handling errors preventing Bingham adding to score apart from a penalty from Tom Packer. Half time 17 – 0

The seconf half pretty much mirrored the first with Bingham capitalizing early with a break from Andy Birznieks to extend the lead to 22 – 0. Pressure came from Amber Valley but Bingham were able to hold the forward pressure and made key breaks. Andy Birznieks got his hat trick after a deep Anthony Thomas clearance kick which was chased and turned over with the ball finding its way to Andy B to run from the 10m. Converted by Tom Packer. With no real danger of conceding after this, Bingham made numerous changes and ran out winners 29 – 0

Plenty to be pleased about and plenty to work on but a comfortable win and now looking forward to the coming 2 weeks as we travel to Ashfield 2nds next week and home the week after against table topping Derby Vets
