Comfortable win and only marred by Injury to Anthony Thomas

Confidence was high after last 2 matches and return to availability of several players and a full bench for once as we entertained Notts Casuals 2nds who had strung together several impressive results.

After an initial 5 mins of Casuals forward pick and drives, Bingham dealt a clinical blow as Anthony Thomas made a 60 m break, maintained possession and after several more phases, the ever youthful Dave Fairchild went over in the corner.

5 mins later forward pressure released the backs & Nick Halstead glided over – Tom Packer converted for a 12 – 0 lead. Jonathan Thomas led by example with some terrific drives as another score seemed inevitable and it came on 20mins after JT ran back a clearance kick to set up a ruck 15m out and with the backs looking to go open, Pete Mount strikes blind commits the last defender for Lee Stokoe to go over. Converted by Ton 19 – 0.

A penalty allowed relief for Casuals and further relief came for Casuals as a horrible sliced kick return went straight into the hands of the oncoming Casual players and with most of Bingham Players in front of the ball, Casuals were able to go over in the corner 19 – 5.

Just what was needed to give Bingham a reality check and the forwards took the game straight back to Casuals with Dave Fairchild getting his 2nd of the game. HT Came Bingham leading and securing 4 try bonus point 24 – 5.

With dominance came numerous changes as all subs were given a run out. Jonathan JT Thomas once again leading by example with fantastic counter rucking won a turn over close to the line but lost control of the ball with a score begging. A terrific scrum drove Casuals off their own ball and JT picked from No8 to score. Converted by Tom Packer 31 – 5.

Further forward pressure enable Andy Watts to break to extend the lead and with the conversion game over @ 38 – 5.

Try of the game came from a scrum on half way with Nick Halstead & Will North showing some silky running and handling skills before Mick Challans appeared from the opposite wing to add the coup de grace. Converted by Tom Packer 45 -5.

The dying minutes saw an unfortunate incident with Anthony Thomas being poleaxed and having to call paramedics.

Our Thanks to Tom & Steve for helping out at this time and we are pleased to confirm Anthony was released later with no lasting damage

A truly fantastic 1st half of the season after the early season setback at Southwell, now unbeaten and heading Pennant 2 something we had not thought achievable at the start of the season but it goes to show what teamwork and training can do.
