With Toby now having left for the capital, in all we had 21 unavailable for Saturdays trip to Mansfield Woodhouse and a complete reshaping of the back

Pete Mount normally 2nd row/back row played at 12 made a good start with some forceful runs down the centre but a painful blow to the shoulder during the 1st half meant Bingham had to use Pete sparingly.

Gareth Williams making his 1st start for several weeks soon found his throwing arm hitting Chris Heathcote in the Line-out; the forwards did the rest releasing Jonathan Thomas to break off and score under the posts; converted by Will Packer who added a penalty shortly after.

Woodhouse were held up over the line with some determined tackles and forced a turnover from the resultant line out and cleared by Ben Packer.

Jason Chruchill suffered a twisted ankle and forced an early change: Matt Forde coming onto the wing, Oscar Ciaurro into the centre and Lee Fretwell moving into the 2nd row. After some treatment, Jason limped back into action.

Shortly before half time, Ben packer switched play blind linking with brother Will who put Captain JT Jonathan Thomas in to score his 2nd. Will added the conversion. 0 - 17. H/T

The 2nd half started well with good chase from Dan Bellamy forcing a turn over and eventually gaining a penalty. Chris Heathcote beginning to dominate his line out and another penalty taken quickly saw the ball to Pete Mount out wide to score. Will added the conversion from the touchline 0 - 24

Matt Forde back on to allow us to rejig and relieve the ever youthful Mick Challans. A 2nd half penalty slotted by Woodhouse was the only meaningful attempt on the Bingham line as the forwards put in a great shift with Chris Bell & Gareth McGahan working hard in the scrums and loose.

Greater control of the game and excellent clearance and field kicks from Will Packer allowed the back 3 of Ashley Saunders, Ian Taylor and Matt Forde more time to look to attack and deal with any Woodhouse kicks.

Chris Heathcote again presented excellent line out possession for Jonathan Thomas to get his hat trick try - conversion missed.

With 15 mins left, a yellow for Woodhouse and Bingham for a scuffle but Bingham capitilised following this after some driving play presented a gap for Will Packer to spot, break through and just reach the line: Will converted his score. Mick Challans returned to the fray allowing Jason Churchill to take a well earned rest for the last 12 minutes.

An excellent win under difficult conditions and circumstances and pleased with the way we reacted keeping a good structure and looked like we enjoyed our rugby.
