Continued challenges with availability and a much improved performance

Unavailability and injury has taken its toll over the last 3 games and Saturday was no different as several players had to play out of position and Bingham cajoled Veteran David Fairchild and Tom Didsbury on leave from teaching in Bedford to start in the front row.

A positive start to the game as Bingham drove well and managed the line out. Joe McLaughlin showed terrific enthusiasm and almost created an opportunity chasing down a clearance kick and putting the Ollerton defence under pressure. Scrums were more of an issue but Jonathan Thomas completed some great rescues retaining possession.

Ollerton were kept in check until the 15th minute scoring after good continuity. Bingham hit back with a penalty and Joe Mclaughlin continued to chase everything which moved but pressure told with another try for Ollerton and a killer try came with the last play of the half - Half time 3 - 17

Jamie Graham showed glimpses of his ability making a couple of breaks either side of 2 quick scores for Ollerton. The line out kept Bingham in the game with Tom Didsbury linking well with Chris Heathcote and Jon Thomas who dominated the line gaining valuable ball and disrupting clean possession for Ollerton. Spirits were doubly lifted as Bingham had a spell of possession and territory and after series of pick and drives, Chris Heathcote picked a gap in the defence to score by the side of the posts. Andy Price slotted the extra and then added another penalty to get some respectability 13 - 36

Dave Fairchild had to concede with 10 mins to go which resulted in uncontested scrums and Bingham playing with 14 as replacement front row Mick Challans had to the leave the game early in the 1st half.

Despite 14 men, Bingham then put together another good move getting the ball wide and quickly to Dan Bellamy on the wing but a last ditch tap tackle brought him down just short and the support was unable to control the loose ball and score.

The shine on the improved performance was tarnished as loose tackling in the Ollerton half allowed them to break, support and score to make the final score 13 - 43

Despite the loss, a lot to be pleased about as the players put life and soul into the performance against what was an unbeaten Ollerton team.
