Bingham kept the scoreboard ticking over to keep the pressure on Cleethorpes getting a late try to secure victory and atone for the early season 25 - 0 defeat.

A promising start forced Cleethorpes to concede a number of penalties with Tom Packer slotting over on 5min and again on 15min close to the 10m line.

On 25min, Cleethorpes push a penalty wide, regain possession on half way after Bingham clear and chip over into space and get the bounce of the ball to score and convert 6 - 7

Jamie Graham put in some great counter attacks but a period of sloppy play before half time handed penalties to Cleethorpes who failed to convert 2 out of 3 attempts on goal falling short with a long range effort and pushing wide a much easier kick.  Half time 6 - 10.

The 2nd half started well again for Bingham more than holding their own against a big pack with Jamie Graham & Andrew Birznieks making some telling runs.  Tom Packer made Cleethorpes pay for indiscipline as he took his chance with a 3rd penalty.

From the restart, Bingham handed Cleethorpes the opportunity to wipe out the penalty gain but again the Cleethorpes 10 failed with his kick.

Good pressure from Bingham kept threatening the Cleethorpes line and after a period of sustained pressure, won a key line out which Jon Thomas took on, Bingham recycled and gained a penalty from a ruck in front of the posts as the backs were waiting for a run in.  Tom Packer nudged Bingham into the lead putting over the penalty.  12 - 10

A missed tackle allowed Cleethorpes onto the front front and their momentum eventually got them over the line and converted 12 - 17

With 10mins to go, Tom Packer makes his 1st penalty miss but the clearance went straight to Jamie Graham who danced round several defenders setting up a counter attack from which Bingham kept Cleethorpes under pressure.  A tap penalty allowed Andrew Birznieks to get to within a couple of metres and from the maul, Bingham got support in quickly to drive Lee Fretwell over for the key score.  Tom Packer added the conversion 19 - 17 to make it a nervy last few minutes.

Bingham managed to work their way to the half way from the restart but then lost possession and handed a lifeline to Cleethorpes with a Penalty on the 10m but the final kick of the game was again pushed wide to give Bingham the victory.

Great to have a few players back and another improved performance overcoming a strong side who had earlier in the season had kept us to nil

No game now until the New Year - 7 Jan when we travel to Newark to play a friendly.
