Bingham Gain valuable Bonus point win

Without a number of last season’s key personnel, Bingham were able to field one of their strongest sides for many weeks and went ahead early through an Anthony Thomas penalty and soon showed dominance in scrum and lineout despite awful conditions.

Shortly after, the lead was extended after Tom John wriggled his way through a mass of players when easier options seemed on – Anthony Thomas added the conversion.

Nottinghamians came back into the game and declined a penalty kick opting to run but Bingham held firm and replied with some good continuity; the ball eventually going through the backs with Jordan Crosse setting up Glenn Sutton to score in the corner

Excellent tackling all round was exemplified by Jack Barnard and Nick Green

Half time 15 – 0

A try from captain Jonathan Thomas early in the 2nd half after a forward drive and converted wide out helped steady any nerves and the bonus point came midway through the half after a great scrummage put Nottinghamians under pressure and Jonathan Thomas came up with the ball score. Again converted by Anthony, 29 – 0.

All the subs made contributions and the only blot on the landscape being Nick Green finishing the day on crutches with what we hope is only a bad sprain.

Despite reshuffles in the pack and in the backs, Bingham continued to limit any Nottinghamian chances and maintained scrum and line out dominance.

Jordon Crosse added a final try when seemingly boxed in after a lineout on the 10m, worked a gap and out sprinted all to score under the posts. Final score 36 - 0

Whilst some tough games coming up, victory means Bingham are now 10 points clear of the bottom of the table and reward for effort put in over the Holiday period.
