The pitch holding up well despite the weather but remained extremely soft underfoot particularly in the 22, clubhouse end.

A solid start playing into the wind but Amber Valley took first blood on 10 Minutes after a catch & drive 0 -5. A period of good possession followed and a terrific tackle from Tom Crosse closed door firmly on an Amber Valley attack. The good work though undone losing a scrum 15m out and the Valley back line reacted quicker to the ball to extend the lead on 25 mins 0 – 12

Handbags shortly after with a yellow for both teams. As much as Bingham worked their way into the Amber Valley half, the Valley 10 kept us turning with some excellent field kicks. Half time 0 – 12

The 2nd half proved a different matter playing with the wind; Bingham were able to play most of the half in the Valley half but determined defence meant Bingham were unable to cross the line.

Several times Bingham got close getting penalties but then running or going to the corner looking to get the bonus point, put on some pressure and seek a win. Unfortunately, the lineout stuttered just when we needed it to work well and a broken rib to Anthony Thomas and an injury to Alex Richards meant several changes in the backs.

A great performance though against opposition looking to head straight back to Mid 3 and some real positives as we seek to ensure we remain in Mid 4.
