Firstly, we are pleased to confirm Bryan got away from the Queens with just 5 stitches and wish him a speedy recovery.
So, not the best start losing Bryan in the centre and having to juggle the backs and bring in Tom Crosse from the back row. Tupton start really lively keeping Bingham pinned down in own half and denying possession for the initial 10 minutes missing a penalty but gaining a score after Bingham sought to get a period of possession themselves but lost control and Tupton take advantage 0 - 7
Bingham slowly start getting into the game gaining a penalty on our first time close to the Tupton 22; Sean McConnell slotting the points.
Ollie Macildowie making his debut at scrum half was keeping the Tupton back row on their toes making some good darts and almost got over after peeling round a line out and was held just short. Bingham recycled the ball and just when a chance opened up, the ball fell loose, was hacked on by Tupton and only great chase back by Lee Fretwell, Jordan Crosse & Chris Garrod prevented Tupton extending the lead and were able to clear.
Greater parity despite the bigger Tupton pack and a 2nd Sean penalty just before half time had the score 6 - 7 at the interval.
Early in the 2nd half Bingham run a ball from scrum on own 22 getting the ball wide to Chris Garrod who chips and chases and gets play right up to the Tupton 22. Bingham keep on pressure and from what seemed a speculative kick from poor ball from the Tupton backs bounced between Bingham defenders, kicked on by the Tupton winger and touched down 6 - 14
Some good replies from Bingham with Jordan Crosse almost getting through; a Tupton scrum but feeding and Bingham run the free kick working wide and Dan Bartram putting Tom Crosse into space to score, converted by Sean, 13 - 14 with 15 min to go.
Missed tackles allow Tupton to get close; a penalty to Bingham to relieve the pressure but touch missed and Tupton run it back and despite untidy ball manage to work wide and score in the corner; conversion missed and only a 6 point game with 10 minutes to go.
Bingham come back and keep on the pressure with Ben McGill peeling off a line out working the ball wide to Callum Davidson and linking back to Nick Green but just held. A great rally at the end but unable to get that vital score and finish 13 - 19.
Despite the early setback and being under tremendous pressure early on, Bingham kept focus and commitment and showing real improvement.
