Well my match notes were pretty damp by the end of the night so the report is based on memory so probably not so good.
Firstly a huge thanks to all the players for sticking to the task in hand and all supporters who braved the atrocious weather on Friday night
The pictures show just what the conditions were like and any thought of open running rugby was put to bed as the ball was a proverbial bar of soap after 2 previous games
Bingham kicked off playing down the slope with the wind and needless to say rather difficult to control the ball. Despite the conditions, Sean McConnell at 10 was doing his best to create openings. The Bingham scrum suffered at the hands of a larger Keyworth pack but Jonathan Thomas had a blinder clearing up scrappy ball.
Bingham keep Keyworth pinned in their own half and JT squeezes over on 15 minutes and converted by Tom Packer
A penalty on 25 minutes and another 5 minutes later from Tom extends the lead to 0 -13 with Keyworth making little progress upfield.
Just on half time, Tom pulls a penalty just wide
The slope and elements clearly a benefit and Bingham find it a challenge but limit Keyworth opportunities until they fail to clear and concede a 5 m scrum which Keyworth drive over 7 - 13
Keyworth fired up and encouraged but Bingham dogged and manage to keep play upfield and even get into the Keyworth 22 on occasions and stop any further Keyworth scoring opportunities and see out the game to gain an invaluable win and take us 9pts clear of the bottom 2.
Overall a deserved win showing more creativity in awful conditions and tremendous commitment from all - just the tonic needed after recent results
Have never known a kit bag to weigh so much
