A stuttering start but comfortable 5 try bonus point win

A few missing players, several carrying injuries and even one in the warm up for our last home league game of the season as Bingham play with the wind in the 1st half.

An early opportunity fell to Jordan Crosse chasing a kick who collected the ball after a nice bounce but was held short and whilst support a bit slow, Skegness conceded a penalty which Tom Packer put over.

Skegness showed a willingness to run the ball and threatened early on as Bingham just did not seem to have any great enthusiasm for the game and not until 20th minute before Jonathan Thomas picked up from a 5m scrum to score and converted by Tom Packer 10 - 0

Skegness cut the deficit with a penalty 5 min later but the rest of the half left little to write about apart from a yellow to Alex Richards for high tackle

HT - 10-3

The 2nd half was a much better affair and any jitters quashed 2 minutes in after Bingham worked the 15 m channel getting the ball to the wing where Jordan Crosse fed Dan Bartram to score in the corner. Tom Packer landed the conversion from the touchline into the wind. 17 - 3

Bingham showed more aggression in the tackle and in contact and continued to dominate the scrum even when down to 14. Matters got a little feisty with Skegness centre getting a yellow card for a dangerous tackle and the Bingham back 3 of Jon Staines, Chris Garrod & Jamie Graham covered relieving kicks and countered well.

With Alex back on and Skegness down to 14, Alex collected recycled ball, made the initial break and had the strength to hand off several attempts and drive over 22-3.

With Pete Mount gaining consistent line out ball and the forwards driving Skegness in the scrums, Bingham enjoyed most of possession and were able to work their way into a strong head wind on several occasions.

25 min into the 2nd half, the forwards take the ball on from a line out and Jason Churchill finds and nice gap in the defence to get the bonus point try.

A terrific tackle from Tom Packer forced a turnover and Jon Staines collected a loose ball and made 30 meters and with the try line begging stumbled as last ditch tackles prevented a score. Bingham maintained pressure on the Skegness line and following a penalty, fed the ball to Lee Stokoe to take the score to 32 - 3.

Great credit to Skegness as in the last minutes ran the ball wide to beat the Bingham defence 32 -1 0
