Throughout our efforts since we entered the Prima Tigers cup, run by Leicester Tigers, we have very much been the minnows, the underdogs.
It started with an invitation to the Notts, Lincs and Derbyshire regional heat hosted at Newark Rugby Club. Our first time in the competition and not sure what to expect, we saw off a lot of bigger clubs to come out triumphant under the fair play scoring system. This system recognises not just tries scored but the core values of Rugby that are very much an embedded part of what we do at Bingham RUFC: Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship.

Our success in the regional competition won us a place in the Prima Tigers final on 26th Feb. We were invited to watch the Premiership games where Tigers beat Gloucester, after which it was our turn. Once again, we faced off against much larger clubs and had an absolutely fantastic time, enjoying the moment and playing some magnificent rugby. The under 10 lads had once again done us proud and we heard later that week that we had become Prima Tigers Champions of our competition, the Fenton Bowl.

Pressure off, success achieved, we had earned a matchday experience at Tigers once more! The celebration day was set for Saturday 30th April where we played one last ceremonial match on the tigers turf before settling down to watch Tigers take on Bristol Bears. Half time came and it was back on to the pitch for our under 10 boys to receive their trophy and show off their medals in front of over 20,000 spectators.

A proud moment indeed for a small community club like Bingham Rugby Club. Our congratulations to the players and coaches who worked so hard to get to this point and a big thank you to the parents and volunteers of Bingham mini rugby who have been unwaveringly supportive and positive throughout the season!
